Honoring the UN neighborhood’s international tradition with a brilliant modern tower

Designed by globally-renowned architects Foster + Partners,
50 United Nations Plaza will be a striking addition to the East River skyline
upon its completion in 2014.

Located across First Avenue from the United Nations, this 44-story luxury residential tower was planned with the international diplomatic community in mind. On behalf of Zeckendorf Development and Global Holdings,
Geto & de Milly crafted a government and community relations strategy that succeeded in securing a rarely-granted zoning approval that guarantees one parking spot for each apartment in a secure garage to meet the needs of the tower’s future residents.

Geto & de Milly also brokered a productive partnership between the developers and the nonprofit responsible for the stewardship of the adjacent open public space, Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza. Our widely-covered “ground-raising” ceremony, marking the start of construction, was attended by project partners, community stakeholders, elected officials and civic activists, some of whom had originally opposed the project but were won over by its clear value to the United Nations community and its world-class design, which will enhance the prestige of this unique neighborhood.
