Cabrini Immigrant Services (CIS)

Engaging the media about a vital Lower East Side resource for immigrant New Yorkers

Since 1999, Cabrini Immigrant Services (CIS) has provided immigrants from the five boroughs with a haven of support, empowerment and service on the Lower East Side. In 2012, CIS’ principal sponsor and funding source was forced to close its doors, jeopardizing the future of this trusted immigrant service nonprofit. CIS engaged Geto & de Milly to raise the profile of the organization in the press and among elected officials.

Geto & de Milly worked closely with CIS to craft a compelling narrative about the history of CIS and the life-changing services it provides to thousands of immigrant New Yorkers each year. Our close relationships with key media outlets generated compassionate stories in the New York Times, New York Daily News, the Chinese-language NY World Journal, and other local publications. CIS was able to leverage the positive media attention as a powerful fundraising tool in its efforts to secure the organization’s long-term future.
