Revitalizing a world-famous New York City neighborhood:
Coney Island

When Taconic Investment Partners, in conjunction with the City Investment Fund, made plans to build a large-scale mixed-use development in the historic Coney Island district of Brooklyn, Geto & de Milly spearheaded an intensive public and press outreach initiative designed to secure the community’s support. During the city’s area-wide rezoning of Coney Island, community activists and elected officials raised a host of issues, at once wishing to take advantage of the expected economic benefits yet concerned about potential adverse impacts of new development.

Relying upon our firm’s strong, longstanding relationships with elected officials, civic leaders and community activists throughout the five boroughs, we engaged with the area’s leadership, planned and managed numerous Taconic-sponsored events and organized broad support among local residents, many of whom we mobilized to testify at public hearings. The effort was successfully concluded with the near-unanimous approval of the Coney Island Rezoning Plan by the New York City Council.
