Government & Community Relations Manager

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies for projects in fields ranging from land use and real estate to sports and the nonprofit sector
  • Engage with elected and government officials and local stakeholders
  • Draft policy memos, backgrounders, decks, and presentations
  • Handle extensive client, policy and political research
  • Monitor City, State and Federal legislation
  • Attend Community Board meetings, governmental hearings and other public forums; provide comprehensive notes to team on rapid turnaround
  • Closely follow and report on press and social media relevant to client projects and policy issues
  • Assist in maintaining contact lists, answering phones, scheduling conference calls/online meetings, etc.

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in government and/or community relations
  • Four-year college degree
  • Proactive and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to discern/distill relevant written/oral information and communicate it to team quickly
  • Highly organized with ability to multitask, set priorities and meet multiple deadlines in fast-paced environment
  • Keen interest in NYC/S politics, with an emphasis on real estate development / land use and public policy

Full-time position with salary range of $90,000 – $125,000, plus full benefits; hybrid work schedule from our Midtown South Manhattan office.
